Yes — AI can put two people from separate photos into one realistic couple photo, and every model we tested kept both people in every photo. We gave eight models one photo of each person and the same descriptions for six couple photos, and measured both faces in every result against their photos. The difference between models is how much each person still looks like themselves.

Usable counts the photos that failed no check and Passed every check those that met all four in full; nothing is averaged. Face match compares both faces in the result with their input photos, person by person (1.00 is identical; different people in our set score 0.22 or lower).

How we tested

Each model got one photo of each person, named by order in the description, once each. The two couples are AI-generated people.

What each photo was checked for

Everyone is there. Every person or pet in the description appears once: nobody missing, doubled or added.
Looks like the input. Each person (or pet) is recognisably the one in their input photo: face, hair, build.
As described. Scene, clothes, pose and style follow the description.
Realistic. Passes as a photo: skin, hands, eyes and light have no obvious AI faults.

Each check is marked passed, partly or failed; no points are added up or averaged. A photo is usable when it fails no check, and the table counts the usable photos and the photos that passed every check. A request that ended without a photo counts as not usable. Every result is shown below, each with a link to its original file.

Face match is measured, not judged: FaceNet (InceptionResnetV1 trained on VGGFace2) turns each face into numbers, and we give the cosine similarity between the face in the result and the face in its input photo, person by person. 1.00 is the same face; our different input people score -0.22 to 0.22 against each other.

The hardest case for likeness: the two face each other across the table, so both are in profile, and only Seedream 5.0 Flash stayed above 0.80.

A beach at sunset

All eight put them close together with the sun low over the sea.

Christmas at home

Matching red sweaters in front of the tree in every result; the GPT models and Seedream 5.0 Flash kept the faces closest.

A rooftop selfie at dusk

Every model made a believable two-person selfie with city lights behind.

Evening clothes on a grey studio backdrop. FLUX 3 drew them standing full length instead of her head resting on his shoulder; Nano Banana Pro changed her braids to curls.

The same request, three times

Every photo above is one try. To see how steady a model is, we sent two of these descriptions to PicYep's default model, Nano Banana 2.1, two more times each, with the same photos and settings, and checked every result the same way (October 15, 2026). All six tries were usable, but none passed every check: in every try Nano Banana 2.1 kept the two faces only partly (face match 0.67 to 0.76). For couples, the models at the top of the table above keep faces closer. In every case the first try was already usable.

Couple photo makers, or an AI photo generator?

For realistic couple pictures, ChatGPT recommended Fotor's AI Couple Photo Maker, insMind's AI Couple Photo Maker and its own image tool. What their pages say (checked October 15, 2026):

Fotor: "add one or two photos" (one required, one optional), "partially free" with credits for new users, and "will not generate any form of watermark".
insMind: "Upload two individual portraits and place both people in one shared photo", or start from a photo that already has the couple; "try this tool online for free", with limits that "may vary by account".

Which one should you use?

Both faces matter: Seedream 5.0 Flash, then GPT Image 2.5 or GPT Image 2.
Faces in profile or turned toward each other: Seedream 5.0 Flash was the only model above 0.80 in our cafe photo.
A specific pose: any model except FLUX 3, which missed one.

Yes. In our test, all eight AI models on PicYep put both people in all six couple photos, from one photo of each person — 48 of 48, nobody missing or doubled.

Yes. Write them in one sentence — a park in autumn, a beach at sunset, matching Christmas sweaters, her head on his shoulder. Every model followed the scene; FLUX 3 once missed the pose.

How do I tell the AI who is who?

Add one photo per person and name them by order: "the woman from the first photo and the man from the second photo". That is how every description in this test was written.
