AI Christmas Photos from Your Own Photo: 8 Models Tested (2026)

We made six Christmas photos from our own input photos — a fireplace portrait, snow, a card portrait, a family of three in matching pajamas, a dog and a man with his dog — with eight AI models. 48 results, every face measured.

Yes — AI can turn your own photo into a Christmas photo, and in our test all eight models made all six, with everyone in the picture. We gave each model the same input photos — one person, three people for a family photo, a dog, and a man with his dog — and the same descriptions, kept all 48 results and measured every face against its input. The differences are in how closely each model keeps the faces.

  • Best value: Seedream 5.0 Flash — all six passed every check, 15 credits, the closest faces.
  • Also all six passing every check: GPT Image 2.5, GPT Image 2, FLUX 3, Seedream 5.0 Pro and Nano Banana 2.
  • Looser faces: Nano Banana 2.1 and Nano Banana Pro on the family photo and the man with his dog.

Usable counts the photos that failed no check and Passed every check those that met all four in full; nothing is averaged. Face match compares each face with its input photo, person by person (1.00 is identical). The dog-only photo has no face measurement and was checked by eye.

How we tested

Each model got the same input photos and descriptions, once each. All the people and the dog in our input photos are AI-generated.

What each photo was checked for

  • Looks like the input. Each person (or pet) is recognisably the one in their input photo: face, hair, build.
  • Everyone is there. Every person or pet in the description appears once: nobody missing, doubled or added.
  • As described. Scene, clothes, pose and style follow the description.
  • Realistic. Passes as a photo: skin, hands, eyes and light have no obvious AI faults.

Each check is marked passed, partly or failed; no points are added up or averaged. A photo is usable when it fails no check, and the table counts the usable photos and the photos that passed every check. A request that ended without a photo counts as not usable. Every result is shown below, each with a link to its original file.

Face match is measured, not judged: FaceNet (InceptionResnetV1 trained on VGGFace2) turns each face into numbers, and we give the cosine similarity between the face in the result and the face in its input photo, person by person. 1.00 is the same face; our different input people score -0.22 to 0.22 against each other.

By the fireplace

Every model made a warm fireplace portrait in a red knit sweater with stockings and a tree; the GPT models and Seedream 5.0 Flash kept the face closest.

Input photo 1
DescriptionA cozy Christmas portrait by a fireplace with stockings and a decorated tree, a red knit sweater, warm light, relaxed smile, realistic photo.

In the snow

All eight put the man in falling snow on a lit street. Nano Banana 2.1 turned it into a selfie-style shot, which also works.

Input photo 1
DescriptionA Christmas photo outdoors in falling snow, a wool coat and scarf, string lights on the street behind, cheerful expression, realistic photo.

A Christmas card portrait

Every model made a card-ready portrait with a mug of cocoa. Nano Banana Pro went further and laid out a finished card with "Merry Christmas" in correct spelling.

Input photo 1
DescriptionA Christmas card portrait in a festive red outfit, holding a mug of cocoa, soft bokeh of tree lights behind, smiling at the camera, realistic photo.

A family of three in matching pajamas

Three separate photos in, one family photo out — every model kept all three people. Nano Banana 2.1 and Nano Banana Pro drew the looser likenesses.

The dog under the tree

Every model kept our dog's tricolor coat and ears and wrapped a red scarf around his neck.

A man and his dog

The same request, three times

Every photo above is one try. To see how steady a model is, we sent two of these descriptions to PicYep's default model, Nano Banana 2.1, two more times each, with the same photos and settings, and checked every result the same way (October 15, 2026). All six tries were usable and passed every check, with face match between 0.90 and 0.94. In every case the first try was already usable.

A Christmas card maker, or an AI photo generator?

For this question ChatGPT recommended its own holiday card tool, Canva's Christmas card maker and Adobe Express; in Chinese, Fotor and insMind. From Fotor's page (checked October 15, 2026): its AI Christmas photo generator works from a photo you upload in its image-to-image mode and is described as "Online Free"; limits, sign-up and watermarks are not stated. Canva's and OpenAI's pages could not be opened from our test machine, and insMind's Christmas page was not found, so we do not describe them here.

A card maker gives you templates and layout; an AI photo generator gives you a new photo — your family by the tree in matching pajamas, or your dog in a scarf — which you can then put on any card.

Which one should you use?

  • Most Christmas photos: Seedream 5.0 Flash — closest faces, lowest price.
  • A family photo from separate photos: Seedream 5.0 Flash, GPT Image 2.5 or GPT Image 2.
  • A finished card with text: Nano Banana Pro laid one out in our test, at 75 credits.
  • Pets: any of the eight.

Questions

Is there an AI that can make Christmas photos from my own photo?

Yes. In our test, all eight AI models on PicYep made all six Christmas photos from our input photos — 48 of 48, with everyone in the picture: a single portrait, a family of three from three separate photos, a dog, and a man with his dog.

Which AI is best for Christmas photos?

Six models passed every check in all six photos. Seedream 5.0 Flash was the cheapest of them at 15 credits a photo and kept faces closest (0.96 average face match), with GPT Image 2 and GPT Image 2.5 just behind.

Can AI make a Christmas family photo from separate photos?

Yes. We gave each model three separate photos and asked for the three people in matching pajamas by the tree; every model put all three on the sofa. Nano Banana 2.1 and Nano Banana Pro drew looser likenesses than the rest.

Can I put my dog in a Christmas photo?

Yes. Every model made a Christmas photo of our dog in a red scarf, and every model put a man and his dog together by the tree from two separate photos.

Can AI make a Christmas card with my photo?

Yes. We asked for a Christmas card portrait; Nano Banana Pro even laid it out as a finished card with "Merry Christmas" spelled correctly, and the other models made a card-ready portrait you can add text to.

How much does an AI Christmas photo cost on PicYep?

From 15 to 75 credits a photo depending on the model and the number of photos you add, shown before you send. New accounts start with free credits, no card is needed, and a request that ends without a photo gets its credits back.
